Driving Request (AGES 18 – 24)

AGES 18 – 24

Young Adults gain independence and self-sufficiency by obtaining a driver's license, allowing them access to work, health care, school, and other pertinent activities. The Children's Foundation will provide 10 hours of driving time and, if needed, a car to pick up the youth ages 15.5 to 18. 

In continuing the mission of the Children's Foundation of Las Vegas to support the unmet needs of children who are or have been in foster care, this application to request unmet needs should be requested by current Case Managers and or former foster youth between the ages of 18 years and 24 years that are in programs related to foster care assistance. Please note the following guidelines:


  •  The Children's Foundation will provide ten hours of driving instruction through our driving program. 

  •  8 hours of driving instruction broken into four sessions at 2 hours each 

  • For Young Adults 18+, the State of Nevada does not require a set number of hours before obtaining your license.

 On The TEST DAY: 

  •  Driving instruction picks up at 9 am (If needed). Typically - the Driving School will schedule the test for you. There will be a 45-minute test review between 9:30-10:15 am. At 10:15 am, arrive at DMV. 

  •  At 10:30 am, the DMV will inspect the car, and the driving test will begin. 

  • You will be picked up at your location at the address provided. You MUST include pick-up information for the driver to pick up for the day of the exam and or driving lessons.

  • We do not provide reimbursement. If the item or activity has already been paid for, please do not make a funding request.

  • We do not pay individuals but only send checks to businesses and organizations. 

  • We cannot approve a request without proper documentation, so please make sure to attach your Driver's permit and included it in your request. 

  • Finally, after all the necessary documentation is received, please allow ten days for us to process this request.                                      

 Driver’s License Requests - If you would like to obtain a driver's license through our driving program:

  • Please submit a copy of your permit with the link portion of your application. 

  • NOTE: Please ensure you have a permit, or we cannot submit the request. We do not provide transportation for the permit testing. 

  • Please schedule your DMV appt in advance. Appointments are currently running 3-4 weeks behind. Use DMV's Online Scheduling or call the Southern Nevada DMV @ (702) 486-4368.

  • If someone else schedules the test for you, they must have your Instruction Permit Number or Social Security Number.
